The Dad Network was founded in 2014 by Al Ferguson. Al and his wife, Jen, experienced their first of seven miscarriages on their wedding day. Al turned to the world wide web for advice, guidance and support and found nothing. So, he started The Dad Network; an online platform aiming to connect dads to parenting resources, entertainment and other dads.
In September 2014, The Dad Network had its first viral image reaching millions of people worldwide. This iconic image was found in hundreds of media outlets including Buzzfeed, Today, The Huffington Post and just about every national newspaper in the UK. Ashton Kutcher even used it as his profile picture on Facebook!
The Dad Network needed a way of bringing what occurred online, offline. It was decided that we should start an annual convention bringing together father’s from all across the UK. In 2014, branded ‘The Dad Network Live’ we held our very first convention with 35 dads. Now returning for its 4th time, DadCon sees over 120 dads gather in central London to hone their fatherly skills and connect with like-minded dads. Find out more here: www.dadcon.co.uk
In 2016, The Dad Network moved from a personal blog to a Limited Company. With an increasing following on social media and growing readership, founders Al & Jen gave up their careers as primary school teachers to take this new project on full time. It was no longer a 1-man-band, but instead a husband and wife start-up.
After nearly 2 years of growing The Dad Network, we realised that in order for it to reach its full potential, we needed some external support from people with not just financial backing, but more importantly the expertise in growing and scaling a business. After reaching out to Clever Digit Media, The Dad Network secured investment and business mentoring from experts who could take the business to the next level. The Dad Network now has a board of directors and is partially owned by Clever Digit Media.
